Andrew Ng — Research Paper Reading
Nov 2, 2020
This blog summarizes the research paper reading tips introduced by Prof. Andrew Ng in the course Stanford CS230: Deep Learning.
Reading Paper Multiple Passes:
- Read the Title+Abstract+Figures
- Read the Intro + Conclusions + Figures (Again) + Skim Rest
- Read the paper, but skip/skim math
- Read the whole paper but skip the parts that don’t make sense.
Questions to Ask:
- What did the authors try to accomplish?
- What were the key elements of the approach?
- What can you use yourself?
- What other references do you want to follow?
